Google has a program called Google Authorship, which allows them to verify you as a credible source of content. Another nice bonus is it adds a more personal feel to your search results. It ties in your Google+ profile with you search results and makes your website appear more human.
The pages within your Google+ profile can rank highly as well, make sure to optimize these for certain keywords.
It helps to tie together your online presence
Through Google + you can link to your other social profiles, including LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube. This brings some sense of coherence across all of your disparate profiles around the web.
For example, if someone was on your Google+ profile they would see what other places you're active on the web and be able to access them from there.
It allows you to separate personal and business contacts
A lot of the other social media platforms lump all of your contacts together, unless you put in the extra work to separate them.
Google+ offers Circles, which makes it very simple to separate your contacts into very small groups and designate posts to only go to those groups. Imagine the ease of being able to custom tailor certain messages to very specific groups of contacts.

Currently Google+ has implemented a new feature called Google+ Ripples. This allows you to see the social sphere of influence the person who posted has.
This makes it easier for you to make decisions about if you should follow that person, and start to build a relationship with them or not.
Similar to Twitter, Google+ also uses hashtags. That makes it easy to join in on very specific conversations around your niche, thus enabling you to appear as a leader in you field.
Google+ Hangouts can build fans for life
Most of the other social media platforms today don't allow you to engage face to face with your fans or clients. Google+ enables you to start a Google+ Hangout, which allows you to literally hang out with your fans and have a real conversation with them.
